Sunday Worship
Our Parish Mass takes place every Sunday morning at 10.30am and lasts for about an hour. This is a traditional service with readings from scripture, music and a homily during which we encounter the living Christ and are sent out into the world by him to be his Body.
Everybody is encouraged to participate in this service in whichever way they feel comfortable and we are always delighted to welcome both those exploring the Christian faith as well as those who have attended church for many years. Following the Mass, refreshments are served in the Parish Hall where there is an opportunity to spend time with fellow members of the worshipping community as well as enjoy canapes, croissants and drinks. We look forward to welcoming you to our Parish Mass.
Daily Mass
St George’s is a community which gathers every day to celebrate the Mass together. The said Mass we celebrate on weekdays is a quiet said service lasting about 20 minutes.
In the Mass, Christians receive that Body and Blood of Christ, so that the living Lord might dwell in them, and draw them ever closer into the mystery of his love. During this reflective service, we are drawn into the saving power of the Cross, and plead Christ’s sacrifice made to the Father for us as well as make intercession for the living and the dead and receive a glimpse of the future glory that is to be ours in heaven.
Daily Office
At the beginning and end of each day we gather for a short time of prayer. Known as the “offices”, here we bring the needs of our local community before God as part of the Church’s continual offering of prayer and praise.
Our time is made up of several readings from the scriptures. We recite psalms and canticles together, hear a reading from the Bible, and bring to God our intercessions.
Whether you are able to attend or not, know that our whole community, and the world we live in, is being remembered and prayed for every day at St George’s.
Times for Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
Morning Prayer – 9.00am
Evening Prayer – 4.30pm
Abide
Abide is a relaxed and informal gathering lasting no more than an hour. A mix of contemporary worship songs and traditional hymns will be sung, scripture will be read and all the while the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed on the altar to aid our prayers as we seek God’s guidance and blessing as a parish.
Abide usually takes place on the second Sunday of the month at 6pm. Please keep an eye on our social media for the latest information.
Evensong
The service of Choral Evensong taken from the Book of Common Prayer is a common feature of the regular worship of many Anglican churches, chapels and Cathedrals.
At St George’s we are delighted to offer this traditional service on the first Sunday of each month with the music led by our Director of Music and Choir. The rhythm of this liturgy provides a peaceful space in which to experience the glory of God and reflect upon the activities of the week ahead. Evensong is also offered with Benediction on occasion to mark high days and holy days.
Guild of St Wilfred
Church life is at SGP is more than just the Sunday Mass. We offer a number of opportunities to pray and grow in your personal spiritual life.
Whether it is an hour of silent prayer before the Blessed Sacrament or gathering with others to pray the ancient prayer of the Rosary, there is something for everyone.
Small Groups
At SGP, we encourage all our parishioners to join a Small Group. Small Groups are communities of 6-10 people who meet regularly to connect with each other, to grow in their faith, and to pray together. They are communities that offer a safe place to journey through the joys and challenges of everyday life
